Privacy Policy
Heads Down Thumbs Up is designed as a simple, child-friendly classroom game. We respect your privacy.
What We Collect
We do not collect personal information from players in the app.
- No account signup
- No name, email, phone number, or address collection
- No location tracking
- No camera or microphone data collection
How The App Works
The game runs locally on the device. Gameplay choices and round results are used only inside the app while playing. Single-player mode (vs James) and two-player pass-and-play on one phone do not send anything to the internet at all.
Online Play
The game has an optional online mode called vs Friend (online). It is only used when a player chooses that mode and taps Create Game or Join Game. When it is used, the app sends a tiny amount of information through Google's Firebase Realtime Database so two phones can play together:
- A short 4-letter room code (e.g. "MAGE") that players say out loud to each other
- Which room the two players are playing in (e.g. "Classroom" or "Playground")
- The name of the chosen classroom character (e.g. "Holly") that each player picks during a round
- A random number used only so both phones show the same round result
- A simple presence flag so each phone knows the other player has joined
The app does not send or store usernames, real names, photos, messages, voice, video, device identifiers, or location data. There is no chat and no way to message the other player.
Game rooms exist only while two players are playing. The host's room data is removed when the host leaves the lobby or returns to the title screen.
Ads, Analytics, And Purchases
- No third-party ads
- No third-party analytics tracking
- No in-app purchases
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. The only third party involved is Google Firebase, used solely to pass a room code and the two players' chosen classroom characters between the two phones during online play. Their data handling is covered by Google's Firebase privacy terms.
Children's Privacy
This app is intended to be safe for children. No personal data is collected from any player. The optional online mode is designed without chat, without usernames, and without any way to identify or contact another player outside the four-letter room code.
